Jumped five times on man's head in 'savage and disgusting' attack - court told

A 16-year-old youth who police said engaged in "a savage and disgusting" attack on a man in he is alleged to have jumped on the man's head five times has been remanded in custody at Derry Magistrate's Court. The youth, who cannot be named due to his age, was charged with attempted grievous bodily harm on 5 February last. A police officer told the court he could connect the defendant to the charges. Opposing bail, the officer said police were called to the Guildhall Square after CCTV operators reported a male jumping on another man's head in what appeared to be an "unprovoked attack." Bail was refused and the youth was remanded in custody to appear again on 5 March.
