Derry man returned for trial on drug supply charges

A Derry man has been returned for trial to the local Crown Court on a series of drug charges. Anthony Thomas Shearing (23), of Claremont House, appeared at a preliminary enquiry at the local Magistrate's Court today. He was charged with five counts of supplying cannabis, being concerned in the supply of cannabis, being concerned in making an offer to supply cannabis, possessing cannabis and possessing cocaine on dates between 20 June 2017 and 2 June last year. He was also charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine on March 19 2018. It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. Shearing said he did not wish to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court sitting on 14 March and released on bail.
