10 year driving ban for man caught drink driving for third time in a decade

A 33-years old man who was caught drink driving for the third time in the last decade, has been disqualified from driving for ten years, fined £100 and given a five month jail sentence, suspended for three years, at the local Magistrate's Court. District Judge Barney McElholm warned Kevin Barry Harkin, from Hawkin Street, that "all bets are now off. This is your final warning. If you come back before this court after committing a similar offence you will be going straight to jail". Harkin admitted charges of driving without insurance at Rossnagalliagh Park, failing to provide a breath specimen and failing to give information to police about the driver of a car. The offences were committed on 19 August, 2017. He also pleaded guilty to failing to give a breath specimen when driving while unfit at Abercorn Road on 14 April last year and to aggravated vehicle taking and causing a damage accident on the same date. Harkin further admitted committing disorderly behaviour in Altnagelvin Hospital on 8 May of last year and assaulting g police officer on the same date. 10
