arntz
A proposal to construct a mixed use retail scheme at the former Arntz Belting site in the Pennyburn area of Derry has been approved by members of Derry City and Strabane District Council’s planning committee today. The application was presented to members of the committee who were provided with a report on the application, which comprises of a medical centre building with car parking, a superstore and associated car parking, a restaurant and a self-service filling station, along with associated servicing and landscaping works at the site in Pennyburn. Welcoming the decision, the chairperson of the planning committee, Cllr Warren Robinson said it was welcome news for the city and wider region. He said the development scheme would bring about employment to the area and the development and enhancement of a derelict site that will in turn bring about positive economic prosperity to the area. “This is good news for Derry and a very positive regeneration opportunity that will not only bring about new jobs for the city and wider area but will see the development and regeneration of a large vacant and derelict site in the heart of the city,” he commented."
