Conference on Transforming Patriarchy at Holywell Trust

A major conference exploring the challenge of transforming patriarchal systems and structures locally and globally will take place in Derry on Thursday, March 14.

The event, backed by the European Union’s Peace IV Programme, will be held at the Holywell Trust building on Bishop Street.

Entitled, ‘Patriarchy Here and There: Transforming A Global System’ will be facilitated by Cathy Higgins and Johnston McMaster.

The keynote speaker will be Blanca Blanco who is Resource Rights Adviser for Trocaire.

Blanca lived in Guatemala for several years and witnessed first hand many of the human rights abuses that took place there during an almost 40 year armed conflict.

Part of the event will include dramatic interactivity with MakeyUppers, Pat Byrne of Sole Purpose Productions, Jennifer Clifford from Rainbow, and Dee Abbott and Jenny McDonald from Children in Crossfire.
