Derry man returned for trial on aggravated burglary charge

A Derry man has been returned for trial to the city's Crown Court on a aggravated burglary charge. Michael Kelly (36), of Rinmore Drive in the Creggan area of the city, appeared at a preliminary enquiry at the local Magistrate's Court. He was charged with conspiring with others to commit an aggravated burglary with intent to steal between 12 and 15 July last year. He was also charged with perverting the course of justice on 15 July 15 by making a false statement to police. It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. Kelly said he did not wish to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on 4 April and released on bail.
