The latest economic reports show that the DUP’s reckless pursuit of a hard Brexit is already damaging economic activity here, Sinn Féin Faughan representative Conor Heaney has said. Mr Heaney (pictured) was speaking following the Ulster Bank's latest survey of private sector firms. He said: "This survey shows that economic growth has ground to a halt,” Conor Heaney said. “New orders are decreasing, staff levels are dropping, and export orders are falling at the fastest rate in nearly six years. “This follows some of the North’s largest employers warning about the impact of a no-deal Brexit on their businesses. Many are now asking how long can the DUP continue to ignore these calls in order to pursue a reckless ideological agenda that is destroying our economic viability. "Sinn Féin will continue to fight for businesses and workers by defending the backstop and seeking special status within the EU."
