Man returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on kidnapping charge

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a blackmail charge. The man, who cannot be named because an anonymity order is in place, appeared at a preliminary enquiry at Derry Magistrate's Court today. He was charged that on dates between 15 May and 20 June last year he conspired with others made unwarranted demands for the transfer of land. It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. The man said he did not wish to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on 11 April and released on bail.
