Derry police release man arrested in connection with serious assault

A 27-year-old man who was arrested after a serious assault on Creggan Street at the weekend has been released on police bail. The assault took place close to Marlborough Street at 2.45pm on Sunday and a man sustained serious injuries. He is thought to have suffered a fractured skull and broken eye socket. Police investigating the assault arrested the 27-year-old but have since released him on police bail pending further enquiries. Police have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have dashcam footage to get in contact on 101 quoting incident reference number 816 of 24/03/19.
