Independent Nationalist candidate for the Moor, Emmet Doyle, has called on the Housing Executive to provide its tenants who will be affected by the Bedroom Tax from April 1 next year a plan of their options.
He said: "I have been called by a number of residents in the Moor area who are now living in houses that are now too big for them who would like to downsize due to the Bedroom Tax being imposed on them from April next year.
“Given the demand for all different sizes of accommodation, it is only logical that the Housing Executive would want to put in place plans that would allow bigger properties to be vacated for families in exchange for more appropriate accommodation for older people who no longer need these properties.
“I am calling on the local management of the Executive to produce a plan of options for residents, many of whom want certainty about their future accommodation."
