A 29-years-old woman was shot dead in the Creggan area of Derry last night. She was hit in the head by one of four shots fired by a masked gunman in the Fanad Drive area. The woman, believed to be a freelance journalist from the Belfast area, was among onlookers following the hijacking and burning of a van and a car. She was rushed to Altnagelvin Hospital in a police land rover but was pronounced dead a short time later. The trouble broke out as police were carrying out a search of a house in the nearby Mulroy Gardens area.
