Calls for pedestrian crossing at Maydown Road

Maydown road
Local people in Maydown are calling for a pedestrian crossing to be installed without further delay. Paul Hughes, Independent candidate in Thursday's local government elections, said Local people have to cross a busy four lane road to get to the bus stop, local shops and the local gym. He added: The road is constantly busy with HGV's travelling to and from Foyle Port, Foyle Meats, DuPont, Evermore Energy, Coolkeeragh Power Station, LSS Limited, the River Ridge Recycling Centre and many other local industries! "Will the Department install traffic calming measures, a crossing island or traffic lights to help alleviate this problem? "A traffic survey was recently carried out on the road. Surely the Department is aware of the number of HGVs using the road travelling to DuPont, Coolkeeragh, RiverRidge Recycling and the Port etc."
