Pensioner targeted by burglar in broad daylight in Derry

Police in Derry are appealing for witnesses following a burglary at a pensioner's house in the Nelson Drive area of the city at around 2pm on April 30. The incident took place at Garvagh Court in broad daylight on Tuesday when a man in his 80's disturbed an intruder at his home. Detective Constable Marie McArdle said: "The man fled the scene with a small sum of money and is described as being in his mid-30s, approximately 5' 10" in height and believed to be wearing a white jacket. "Enquiries are continuing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact detectives at Strand Road on 101, quoting reference number 791 of 30/04/19." Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
