Police issue traffic advice ahead of Derry City match and 10-miler road race

Police in Derry have issue traffic advise ahead of two sporting events in the city this weekend.

Road users are advised of increased traffic that’s expected in the city tonight due to the Derry City v Shelbourne match in The Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.

This is expected prior to the game, which kicks off at 7.45pm, and after the match.

If you're attending the game, and need to park, be mindful not to block private entrances or cause an obstruction to other road users, local residents and emergency services. If you’re driving in the area around these times, please be mindful of pedestrians and the increased traffic, and drive with extra caution.

Meanwhile, the Walled City 10-mile road race takes place tomorrow (Saturday, March 14), starting from Ebrington Square at 10.30am and finishing there at 1.30pm.

While a significant part of the route takes runners off-road, the public is advised of some possible delays during the latter part of the race - along Limavady Road, city-bound to Foyle Bridge towards Bay Road Park (Foyle Hospice entrance).

If you're driving during these times, please exercise caution. Anyone attending the race is asked to be mindful when parking and not to block private entrances or cause an obstruction to pedestrian traffic.

Police will be on duty and assist with any traffic issues that may arise.
