Derry man charged with series of offences including kidnapping and possessing firearms

A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates' Court today charged with a series of offences including kidnapping, possessing firearms with intent to cause fear and administering poison or a similar substance.
Ryan Deery (31) of Ballymagowan Gardens in Derry was charged with kidnap and assault occasioning actual bodily harm against the same alleged injured party on October 1 last year.
He was also charged with falsely imprisoning the man, entering a premises as a trespasser and stealing various items as well as attempted grievious bodily harm again on the same date.
Deery was also charged with possessing class B drugs again on October 1 last year.
A police officer connected the accused to the charges.
A defence barrister Stephen McNicholl told the court tgat while his client was 'strenuously denying the offences' there would be no application for bail.
Deery was remanded in custody to appear again on March 26.
