Police in Derry investigating reports of suspicious activity during the early hours on February 11 in the city are appealing for information and witnesses.
Four reports have been made to police to date, which they believe may be linked. At around 5.30am yesterday, a male was reported acting suspiciously, trying the door handle of a car in the Rockfield area. At around the same time and in the same area, two males were seen accessing the back of a property and making their way to a neighbouring property. Two males were also reported as trying the doors of cars in the Ardcaien area, at around 5.30am. Two males were also reported trying door handles of cars in the Brookhill area, accessing two of them, at around 6.15am.
The males in all of these reports have been described as wearing dark-coloured clothing, and wore some type of covering on their faces, described as being similar to balaclavas. One of the males is described as being approximately six foot tall, the other about six inches shorter.
As enquiries continue, police appeal to anyone in any of these areas who has noticed any suspicious activity or has CCTV or doorbell cameras, to check their footage which may have captured significant information.
Police also appeal to anyone who has experienced something similar in the last 24 to 48 hours, and has not reported it, to do so by calling 101, quoting reference 132 of 11/02/26.
The appeal includes taxi drivers as well as anyone with dash cam footage from around these times.
