Radius Housing and GEDA complete an £8.25m project featuring dedicated wheelchair-accessible apartments to tackle the city's acute housing shortage

Radius Housing marks completion of new 40-home development in Derry

Radius Housing has marked the completion of a new development, Daisyfield Court on the Letterkenny Road, Derry, helping to meet acute housing need in the city. The development, comprised of townhouses and apartments, will deliver 40 new homes and house up to 114 people.

The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Ruairí McHugh, attended the site to officially open the development, which will provide high-quality, accessible homes in a central location close to key services and transport links, as well as delivering wheelchair accessible apartments to meet specific local needs.

The £8.25 million scheme delivered in partnership with developers GEDA, and provides a mixed range of family and accessible accommodation across the Letterkenny Road site in Derry/Londonderry. The total breakdown of the homes included in the development is:

  • 12 three-person, two-bedroom townhouses
  • 12 three-person, two-bedroom Category 1 apartments
  • 8 three-person, two-bedroom apartments
  • 4 two-person, one-bedroom apartments
  • 2 two-person, one-bedroom wheelchair accessible apartments and
  • 2 three-person, two-bedroom wheelchair accessible apartments.

John McLean, Chief Executive, Radius Housing, said: “This development is about real delivery for a city that has an acute housing need. Radius Housing’s Daisyfield Court development will provide safe, high-quality homes for individuals and families who need them most, right in the heart of Derry.

"The mix of homes here, including accessible and wheelchair-designed accommodation, reflects our commitment to meeting a wide range of housing needs and ensuring people can live independently and with dignity.

The total development costs for the site exceeded £8.25 million, including private investment of over £3.3 million. Work began on site on 28 March 2024 and was completed on 19 February 2026. The finished site was delivered by GEDA as Radius’ developer, with AG Crawford acting as Employer’s Agent.

As part of Radius’ commitment to sustainable living and green travel, travel cards will be provided to residents, supporting access to public transport and reducing reliance on private car use.
