Derry actor Cáit Ní Cheallaigh is taking to the stage of The Everyman Theatre in Cork in MTU Cork School of Music’s production of ‘Come From Away’.

Starring as eager, young journalist Janice Mosher for Rogers TV, Ms Ní Cheallaigh and her fellow School of Music, Musical Theatre BA degree students will tell the story of the events of 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland.

The production, which has been described as “powerful and uplifting” will run at The Everyman from February 11 to 14, 2026.

Come From Away tells the true story of 7,000 air passengers who were diverted to the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, following the events of September 11, 2001.

Cultures clash and nerves run high, but ultimately, fear gives way to trust as Newfoundlanders welcome the "plane people" into their lives and homes.

The musical is a moving testament to human kindness and resilience in the face of tragedy.

This presentation offers a unique opportunity to witness the rising stars of Irish musical theatre tackle one of the most emotionally resonant musicals of the modern era.

The production will feature a stellar creative team, led by acclaimed West End and Broadway star Killian Donnelly (Phantom of The Opera, Les Misérables) working as director with CSM students for the second time after last year’s success with ‘9-5 The Musical’.

Mr Donnelly said: “It is an honour to be asked back to MTU Cork School of Music to direct Come from Away, a piece that I hold very close to my heart, having previously worked with the creative team of the original Broadway production.

“I’m very touched to be asked to direct this show about community, friendship and helping others in their time of need. I’m really looking forward to it and can’t wait to bring it to Cork audiences,” he added.

Joining Donnelly are a host of respected Irish theatre professionals.

Musical director, David Hayes is known for his extensive work across theatre, classical music, TV and more, including ‘Riverdance’, ‘Dancing With The Stars’, RTÉ, and West Side Story in Concert, Bóird Gáis Energy Theatre.
