A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates' Court charged with a number of sexual offences involving two teenage girls, as well as a number of drug offenses.
Kevin Duggan (31) of Largantogher Park in Maghera was charged with, between December 28 last year and January 1 this year, sexual assault offences involving non-consensual touching of two girls aged fourteen and sixteen.
He was also charged with, on December 31 last year, false imprisonment, attempting to incite sexual activity with children and making threats to kill, all involving the same injured parties.
As well as this, he was charged with, on the same date, possession of class A drugs, offering to supply class A drugs, being concerned in the supply of class B drugs and possession of class B drugs.
The court heard the initial police report came on January 19 when the mother of one of the girls reported a man trying to give children drugs in Maghera.
She reported that he had offered them to her daughter and a friend and asked them for a threesome.
Both girls gave statements to police saying that they were with Duggan between December 28 and 31, detailing a number of incidents.
Both alleged that Duggan had asked for a threesome and for oral sex. One also said that he rubbed her along the side, around her ribs.
The younger girl said that Duggan had kissed her on the cheek and attempted to kiss her neck before she pushed him away.
He was then alleged to have slapped her backside and attempted to lift her over his shoulder before being stopped by the older girl.
They then alleged that he stopped them from leaving by blocking the door for two hours and made threats to kill them.
The girls alleged that Duggan also provided them with cannabis that they said they accepted and that he tried to give them alcohol.
He was also said to have shown them two weapons he had in the house: a machete that was under his mother's bed and a homemade wooden spear that was behind the sofa.
He was arrested on January 21 and denied all the charges.
A number of addresses were provided but police deemed none of them suitable for a number of reasons.
The bail application was adjourned until January 28.
