Derry and Strabane District Council has been requested that it carry out refurbishment of the street furniture in Brooke Park.
Sinn Féin councillor Aisling Hutton said she's been contacted by a number of users of Brooke Park with complaints that a lot of the street furniture there is covered in moss and the paint work has worn away. Some have even said their clothing was marked when they used the summer seats.
Cllr Hutton said: “I fully understand that the street furniture in the park is exposed to the full elements of the weather and it's difficult to protect it from wear and tear.
“I have contacted the Council and asked them to place this issue on their programme of works and hopefully they can carry out a refurbishment of the street furniture there as soon as possible.
“Brooke Park is a valued open and green space for local residents and visitors to our city alike so it's important to protect it."
