A man has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court following his second breach of bail in less than a week.

Matthew McCloskey (27) of Lawrence Hill in Derry was arrested after breaching his bail conditions that stated that he was not to consume alcohol.

Last Thursday, he was arrested after being found in the street with a bottle of vodka and released on bail with a warning.

On Monday night, he was once again found by police in Waterloo Place to be intoxicated and gave a breath reading of 90mgs.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that McCloskey has a 'chronic problem with alcohol' but said that there has been no new offending.

He also reiterated that McCloskey was 'not the first person to fail Dry January'.

He was once again granted bail but this time with 'a final, final warning' and will appear again later this month.
