Derry men face trial over St Augustine's Church burglary

Two men have been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on burglary charges including one at a church in the city.

Shane Kavanagh (30) of Waterloo Place and Maurice O'Shea (35) of Westland Street both in Derry appeared at a Preliminary Enquiry at the local Magistrate's Court today. 

Both men were charged with burglary at St Augustine's Church in Palace Street on May 7 this year.

O'Shea was further charged with burglaries at the Pickled Duck restaurant in March and also at tge Walled City Brewery also in March. 

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. 

Both men were returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on January 28 with O'Shea in continuing custody and Kavanagh on bail.
