Man with 455 previous convictions remanded on assault and disorder charges

A man withh 455 previous convictions has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court charged with three counts of assault, assaulting police and disorderly behavior.

Joe Young (59) of no fixed abode was charged with the offences that were said to have occurred on December 10.

Defence barrister Graine McAnaney said that Young has 455 previous convictions but there would be no bail application as there is no suitable address at this time.

He was remanded in custody and will appear again on January 8.
