Derry man due in court over attempted murder of PSNI officer

Detectives in Derry investigating assaults on four police officers and a custody detention officer on Thursday morning, November 27, in the Collon Lane area, have charged a man to court.

The 21-year-old has been charged with a number of offences which include attempted murder, wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm, assault on police and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He is due to appear at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, November 29.

As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

On Friday morning, Connlan Boyle, 20, from Rosskeen Park, Derry, appeared before the city’s Magistrate's Court charged with three counts of assault on police in relation to the same incident.

He was remanded into custody.
