Suspended sentence for Donegal man at Derry Magistrate's Court

Derry Magistrates' Court

Derry Magistrates' Court today heard how after police offered to drive a woman who was behaving 'erratically' home they had to stop the vehicle when she started acting aggressively.
Jemma McLaughlin (39) of Sperrin Bawn in Claudy admitted a charge of disorderly behaviour on August 19.
The court heard that at 6.40am police received a report of a female behaving erratically in Spencer Road.
They came across the defendant who the court heard 'was not making any sense'.
Police offered to drive her home and she continued to act aggressively.
While in the police vehicle she started to scream and act aggressively and police had to stop the vehicle.
McLaughlin continued 'to shout and scream in the street' before being arrested.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that unusually he had been asked by the defendant to request community service as she was benefiting from this.
McLaughlin was given 80 hours community service.
