A man has been fined at Derry Magistrate's Court today after he admitted a charge of disorderly behaviour in Waterloo Place.

Jordan Whitehouse (34) of Deramore Drive in Derry admitted one charge of disorderly that occurred on May 4 this year at 12.30am.

The court heard that at that time on that date police attended an ongoing disturbance in Waterloo Place.

They observed Whitehouse in an altercation with door staff outside a local bar.

When police approached Whitehouse's 'demeanour changed' and he took off his shirt and raised his fists.

He shouted at police 'come on let's go' and despite warnings he continued to shout at members of the public.

Defence counsel Fergal McCormick said that the incident was 'not the most extreme'.

He said his client had been off alcohol for 17 months and went out on a stag night and drank too much.

The barrister said that Whitehouse accepted that this behaviour was not a good example for his children.

He added that the defendant had been out of trouble for a 'considerable period of time'.

Whitehouse was fined £400.
