Derry Magistrate's Court
A person has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court charged with harassment of their mother.
Jamie Devine (22) of Fountain Hill in Derry was charged with the offences that were said to have occurred on October 25 after the mother reported that Devine had come to her house asking for money for a taxi, but that their mother suspected was really for drugs.
After Devine began making threats of violence, their mother pushed £10 through the letter box.
She then reported that Devine had attempted to call her 34 times, in what police described as a 'clear breach' of a non-molestation order, leading to objections to the bail application.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that Devine gets roughly £1000 in benefits a month and their mother handles the money.
He added that they accepted that this arrangement was 'going to have to change'.
Bail was granted on conditions including no contact with the injured party.
They will appear again on October 29.
