Derry Court
A man has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court charged with possession of class A drugs and disorderly behavior.
Shane Murray (25) of Brookview Glen in Eglington was charged with the offences that occurred on February 24 this year when police were searching him under the misuse of drugs act and he began to shout abuse at them.
Police handcuffed him for the search due to his behavior and, after not finding any drugs, released him and asked him to leave peacefully.
When the handcuffs were removed he continued shouting and cursing at police and was arrested for disorderly behavior.
In the police station, he admitted to having drugs hidden in his underwear and police found him to be in possession of them.

Murray said that he was heavily intoxicated and claimed not to remember much of the incident, refusing to watch the police bodycam footage.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that Murray had a 'fairly significant break in offending' since 2020 and added that it was 'probably not the worst disorderly'.
Deputy District Judge Sean O'Hare played the footage in court and Murray claimed to be 'disgusted with himself' upon seeing it.
He was given a sentence of 120 hours of community service.
