The One World North West Cultural Festival will return to the streets of Derry later this month to celebrate global diversity and local unity.
The vibrant Multicultural Festival will take place in the city on Sunday, September 14 from 1.00pm to 4.00pm at Bishop’s Gate along the Peace Wall.
Hosted by the Neighbourhood Management Team Forum with support from the One World Festival Board and the Executive Office District Council Good Relations Programme, the festival seeks to celebrate the rich cultural diversity that exists locally by bringing together people from various backgrounds for a day of unity and festivity.
The festival will welcome everyone says Chris McDonagh of the Neighbourhood Management Team: “This festival is more than just a celebration of our community’s diversity - it’s a powerful reminder of the importance of unity and mutual respect particularly now when it is needed more than ever.”
The festival is being held in partnership with Derry City and Strabane District Council with funding from the International Fund for Ireland.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Ruairí McHugh, encouraged the public to get involved.
“The One World North West Cultural Festival is an opportunity for people of all backgrounds to come together and celebrate the rich cultural diversity that exists in our Council area,” he said.

“Sharing music, food, stories and craft from around the world help demonstrate that there is much more that unites us than divides us and helps deepen our understanding of each other’s traditions.
“There’s a comprehensive programme of activity planned for all the family so I’d encourage people to access it now and get involved on September 14th.”
Admission to the festival is free and open to the public, full details are available HERE.
