A man has died following a house fire in County Derry.
Emergency services attended the scene of the blaze in the Maple Drive area of Coleraine on Wednesday night.
Police were alerted shortly after 11.20pm.
The victim, who was aged in his 50s, was rushed to Causeway Hospital where he died a short time later.
“Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) extinguished the fire,” a PSNI spokesperson said.
“The man was taken to hospital, but sadly died as a result of his injuries
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said it received a 999 call at 11.20pm.
“NIAS dispatched 2 Emergency Ambulances to the scene,” a spokesperson added.
“Following assessment and initial treatment at scene, one patient has been taken to the Causeway Hospital by Ambulance.”
A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) Spokesperson said: “The thoughts and sympathies of Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service are with the loved ones of a man who died following a house fire on Maple Drive, Coleraine.
“Firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a house at 11.09pm last night (Wednesday 30 July 2025). One Fire Appliance from Coleraine Fire Station, 1 Fire Appliance from Portstewart Fire Station and 1 Fire Appliance from Portrush Fire Station attended the incident.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used 2 hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. One male occupant, aged in his 50s, was rescued from the property by Firefighters and left in the care of NIAS but tragically later passed away.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation and Firefighters left the scene at 12.16am this morning, Thursday 31 July 2025.”
