Council has plans for two skateparks in city and district.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council Ruairí McHugh (Sinn Féin) has confirmed he and Council officers will be meeting a local person concerned about the recent closure of DC Skatepark in the Waterside.
During Chairperson’s Business at July’s Council plenary, Mayor McHugh said all members had been contacted by a constituent on the issue.
“He has requested Council to pursue its own skatepark within the city and district,” he added.
“I do know Council has plans for two skateparks. One is probably further down the line in the former Strabane District Council Area.
“Just to let members know, I will be meeting Mr Carruthers as Mayor and Council officers about the issue and we will bring back a report to the relevant committee.”
