Derry Magistrates' Court
A man who was due to appear at Derry Magistrates' Court charged with a number of offences including criminal damage and assaulting police failed to appear as police said he had been 'quite violent' in his cell.
Sean Deery (39) of Spencer Road in Derry was charged with, on July 20, assault, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, namely a fork, criminal damage of a police camera, assaulting police, harassment and disorderly behavior.
Deery did not appear in person before the court but the case was dealt with in his absence.
Defence solicitor Jack Quigley said the offences occurred as a result of Deery's mental health issues and bail was agreed under a number of conditions, including that he attend his GP and follow all advice given.
He will appear again on August 14.
