Derry man (33) returned for trial for sexually assaulting woman

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a charge of sexual assault by penetration. 

Emmett Deehan (33) of Fahan Court in Derry appeared at a Preliminary Enquiry at the local Magistrate's Court

He was charged with sexual assault by penetration on a female on October 27 last year.

He was further charged with causing grievious bodily harm with intent to the same female on the same date.

It was accepted that there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.

Deehan said he did not want to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. 

The defendant was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on September 4 and remanded in continuing custody.
