This project will bring workshops, accredited training, and public events to the district and beyond throughout 2025 and 2026.
The Rainbow Project is rolling out a powerful new LGBTQIA+ Awareness Training initiative across Derry City & Strabane, neighbouring regions, including cross-border communities — aimed at building a more inclusive, informed and connected community.
Funded through the PEACEPLUS Local Co-Designed Action Plan under the theme of Celebrating Cultural Diversity, A project supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
This project will bring workshops, accredited training, and public events to the district and beyond throughout 2025 and 2026.
Whether you're a professional looking to better support LGBTQIA+ colleagues and clients, or someone who wants to grow as an ally, this programme is designed to equip you with real tools, real knowledge, and real connection.
The project kicks off with a launch event at Holywell Trust on June 27 from 11am - 12pm.
Rainbow Project CEO Scott Cuthbertson said: "This new project will have a meaningful impact on LGBTQIA+ people in the Foyle area: by working with organisations across the Western area, developing and delivering best-practice training on LGBTQIA+ inclusion, we can ensure that everyone in the community can access services without fear of discrimination or misunderstanding."
Training Coordinator James McGoldrick added: "It's a privilege to be working across the Derry City and Strabane area, as well as in the border regions, to improve inclusion for all LGBTQIA+ people in the area. We know that this project will make a difference to people's every-day lives, so we're excited to get started and begin making that change."
