Derry father appeals for information on son missing in Perth

Finn Coyle was last seen on Friday.

The family of a missing 21-year-old man say they are “seriously worried” about his welfare with his disappearance “completely out of character”.

Finn Coyle was last seen at a property on Tanner Road, Carmel — about 30km south east of Perth — about 2.30pm on Friday.

Finn's father Joe, who is from Derry, has appealed for any ex-pats to come forward with any information on his son's whereabouts.

Finn’s brother Conor Coyle said his family are “seriously worried”.

“Finns been missing since Friday. . .we’re all very worried for his well being and his welfare, he’s known to spend a lot of time in the local bush in the hills area,” he said.

“I think he’s very resourceful, and he’s a great young man, but he’s suffering a lot of mental health, and I think that’s something we’re losing a generation of young people for mental health.

“It’s entirely unlike him, and just completely out of character. We’re seriously worried.

“If anyone’s seen him, knows him, or knows where he might like to spend time, or grew up with him, any help is greatly appreciated.”

Police in Perth hold serious concerns for Mr Coyle and believe he still may be in Carmel or its surrounding areas, travelling on foot.

Senior Sergeant Brad Robinson said police were notified on Saturday afternoon that the 21-year-old was missing.

“What we believe is that he’s probably not too far from home, he likes to venture out from his place here and go into the bush and do certain activities, build cubby houses and that type of thing. And so he likes being in the bush that’s the type of person he is so we’re concentrating our search efforts at this stage, in and around here,” he said.

Police and the State Emergency Service today deployed significant resources to assist with the land search.

“We’ve also got horses out about and we also had some drones doing some thermal energy the other night and into today,“ Sen-Sgt Robinson said.

The weather is creating an additional challenge for police to locate Mr Coyle.

“As you can see, we’ve got something moving through now, a cold front, probably moving through now, which is certainly going to hamper our efforts,” he said.

“The bush land around here is really thick it’s hard to see from overhead for our drones and it’s also quite challenging on the ground for crews doing search on the ground.”

Mr Coyle is described as being 187cm tall, of slim build with short brown hair and green eyes.

“Anyone who lives near this area are urged to check their properties and outbuildings for Finn or any indications that he may have been there,” a police spokesperson said.

Anyone living nearby who may have CCTV vision or dashcam footage from around this time is urged to check it to assist investigations.

Anyone who sees Finn or has information of his whereabouts is urged to contact Police in Perth immediately.
