Derry man to be sentenced next month after pleading guilty to series of drug charges

Lee Sweeney (22) of Gosheden Cottages was charged with supplying a class A drug to another on a date between September 23, 2022 and October 29, 2022. He was further charged with offering to supply Class B drugs on April 17, 2022 as well as a charge of possessing criminal property on October 28, 2022 namely £1,655 on October 28, 2022

A man will be sentenced next month after he pleaded guilty to a series of drug charges. 

Lee Sweeney (22) of Gosheden Cottages in Derry appeared at the local Crown Court. 

He was charged with supplying a class A drug to another on a date between September 23, 2022 and October 29, 2022. 

He was further charged with offering to supply Class B drugs on April 17, 2022 as well as a charge of possessing criminal property on October 28, 2022 namely £1,655 on October 28, 2022.

When the charges were put to him Sweeney pleaded guilty. 

Defence counsel Michael Donaghy  said he wished to consult with the prosecution on a related matter and asked for a one week adjournment. 

Judge Neil Rafferty KC ordered the preparation of a pre-sentence report and Sweeney, who is currently in custody, will appear again on June 11.
