A man has pleaded guilty to the attempted robbery of Clonmany Post Office in 2020.
Barry Reddan appeared before Letterkenny Circuit Court in connection with the incident.
The 64-year-old pleaded guilty to a single count of attempted robbery, contrary to Common Law.
Reddan admitted that he did attempt to rob Mary Brennan, an employee of A Post, at Clonmany Post Office on November 11, 2020.
Reddan, of Whitehouse Park in Derry, spoke only to plead guilty when he was arraigned before Judge John Aylmer.
His barrister, Mr Colm Smyth SC, instructed by solicitor Mr Frank Dorrian, said his client has no previous convictions.
Mr Smyth said a probation report would be useful to the court and asked that legal aid be extended to cover a report from Reddan’s doctor.
Judge Aylmer consented and also asked that the probation report include an assessment on Reddan’s suitability for community service.
Reddan will be sentenced later this year.
