Celtronic 'heartbeat of Derry’s electronic music scene' - Cllr Aisling Hutton.

Sinn Féin councillor Aisling Hutton used Council’s has acknowledged the huge contribution made to the city by the Celtronic music festival.

The electronic music event, founded by friends Gareth Stewart and Tony Talbot, in Derry in 2001 attracted international and local DJs and artists; it ended on a high celebrating its 25th anniversary in April past.

In her “thank you” to Celtronic, Cllr Hutton described the festival as “the heartbeat of Derry’s electronic music scene”.

“To the founders, Gareth Stewart and Tony Talbot, thank you for believing that Derry could be a world stage. You dreamed boldly, acted with heart and brought to life an event that matched the creative energy of any European city.

“You didn't follow trends, you set them. You didn't chase profit, you chased passion and for that we are very, very thankful,” Cllr Hutton said.
