Man charged with assault on his father released on bail at Derry Court

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on charges relating to an assault on his father.

Dillon Harkin (24) with an address at Elgin Street in Belfast appeared at a Preliminary Enquiry at Derry Magistrate's Court

He was charged with an assault on his father occasioning actual bodily harm on July 11 last year.

He is also charged with non fatal strangulation also on his father and again on the same date. 

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.

Harkin said he did not wish to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. 

Harkin was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on June 26 and released on bail.
