Damaged was caused to the windows at Sandy’s African Food Hub.

An appeal for witnesses has been following a weekend attack on a Derry restaurant.

Windows were broken and severely damaged at Sandy’s African Food Hub.

In a post of social media, the owners of the Waterside eatery said the incident was 'deeply upsetting'.

They also said they remain 'undeterred' by the 'disturbing event'.

The statement reads: "We regret to inform our valued customers and the wider community that Sandy’s African Food Hub was attacked over the weekend by unknown individuals. Both front glass panels of our premises were broken and severely damaged.

"This deeply upsetting incident has been reported to the PSNI, and investigations are currently underway. We appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the attack or has any information to come forward and assist in identifying those responsible.

"Let us work together to ensure that such acts do not tarnish the image of our beloved city of Derry- Londonderry.
"Since opening our doors two years ago, we have served our community with pride, offering authentic and delicious African cuisine. This is the first time we have faced such a disturbing event, but we remain strong, undeterred, and committed to our mission.

"Thank you to all who have reached out with messages of support. We will continue to serve you with resilience and passion."
Police are appealing for information and witnesses following a report of criminal damage caused to commercial premises in the Spencer Road area of Derry at the weekend.

Inspector Robb said: “Sometime between Saturday 17th May and approximately 3.45pm on Monday 19th May, glass window panes were reported to have been smashed.

“Enquiries are ongoing, and we would appeal to anyone who might have seen any suspicious activity, or have any information which might assist, to get in touch.

“The number to call is 101, quoting reference number 1039 of 19/05/25.”
