Rowdy scenes at Derry Magistrate's Court as anti lock down protesters disrupted proceedings

Derry Magistrates' Court

A man who is on bail on condition that he submits to a breath test has appeared at Derry Magistrates' Court for breaching his bail by refusing to give a sample.

Christopher Villa (35) of Crawford Square in Derry appeared for breaching his bail on May 16.

The court heard that on that date police attended Sackville Street to an incident.

Villa was believed to have been intoxicated and was asked to provide a sample of breath and he refused.

Police believed the defendant was intoxicated and so he was arrested for breaching his conditions.

A police officer told the court that it was Villa's first breach of bail and did not oppose his release.

Villa was released on bail to appear again on May 25.
