Bogside and Brandywell Health Forum and 'Born to Run' launch new 'Couch to 5K' programme
Bogside and Brandywell Health and our running club 'Born to Run' are launching a brand-new community 'Couch to 5K' programme.
Starting this evening, (Tuesday, May 13) the 12-week programme will meet twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm, leaving from the Gasyard Centre.
It is open to all adults aged 18 and over, and to anyone with a desire to improve their physical health, mental wellbeing, and fitness levels.
Whether you're new to running or looking to get back into a fitness routine, it’s designed to support complete beginners in taking their first steps towards a healthier lifestyle.
A spokesperson for the Bogside and Brandywell Health Forum commented: “We’re delighted to be working with our running club 'Born to Run' on this exciting new Couch to 5k programme which is about keeping people active, fit, and healthy, and encouraging them to step out of their comfort zones and try new things.
“The benefits of staying active, especially through running and jogging, extend far beyond physical fitness - they also promote positive mental health and wellbeing.
“This programme offers the perfect opportunity for people to get started, make lasting changes, and make the first steps towards a healthier lifestyle.”
Everyone who signs up to the ‘Couch to 5k’ will be supported every step of the way, with advice and guidance from experienced coaches and runners.
