Speeds of 100mph must receive a disqualification - Derry judge says

A judge at Derry Magistrates' Court has said that speeds of 100mph must receive a disqualification.

The comments by District Judge Ted Magill came in the case of Dylan Deeney (25) of Beraghvale in Derry admitted three driving offences including speeding, incorrect registration mark and defective windows that occurred on February 25, 2025.

The court was told that Deeney was detected driving at 100mph on the Glenshane Road where the limit is 70mph.

Judge Magill said that the main issue in this case was the speed.

He disqualified Deeney for a period of three months and fined him a total of £350.
