Man facing series of drug charges and converting criminal property returned for trial

The man, who had previously been granted anonymity due to the existing threat in the city, appeared at a preliminary enquiry at Derry Magistrates' Court

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a series of drug charges and a charge of converting criminal property namely £42,470 in cash.

The man, who had previously been granted anonymity due to the existing threat in the city, appeared at a preliminary enquiry at Derry Magistrates' Court. 

He faced a series of drug charges including being concerned in the supply of cocaine and possessing cocaine on February 21, 2024.

He was also charged with possessing cannabis vapes with intent to supply on dates on February and September 2024.

The man was further charged with converting criminal property namely £42,470 on dates between August 1, 2023 and March 19, 2024.

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. 

The man said he did not wish to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. 

He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on May 14 and released on bail.
