Derry Magistrates' Court
A man and a woman have appeared at Derry Magistrates' Court charged with drug offences after a parcel of drugs valued at £80,000 was intercepted.
Ross Black (25) of Lincoln Court in Derry was charged with being concerned in the supply of Ketamine on dates between May 10, 2024 and March 25, 2025 and three related charges.
Siun Herron (26) of Ernest Street in Derry faced 11 charges including possessing Ketamine on April 11, attempted possession of cocaine and ketamine on March 7, 2025 and being concerned in the supply of various drugs including cocaine, ecstasy, ketamine and cannabis on various dates.
A police officer connected the accused to the charges and opposed bail.
The court was told a parcel addressed to Herron was intercepted on March 6 and found to contain £80,000 worth of cocaine and ketamine.
Police went to that address and both defendants were present.
Black denied knowledge of the package but a quantity of Ketamine was found and mobile phone was seized.
At interview Black refused to give his PIN number but some of the messages accessed suggested he was involved in the supply of drugs in the city.
On April 11 police went seeking Black and Herron on the basis of the phone evidence and they weren't present.
CCTV operators alerted police that they were in Ebrington Square and Herron was seen putting white powder into a bag.
Police went there and arrested them both.
Bail was opposed due to the risk of reoffending.
Defence solicitor Keith Kyle said there were concerns about 'repercussions in the community' after publicity about the drugs find.
He said that there would be considerable delay before the case comes to court.
Black was released on bail on condition he observes curfew and has no Internet enabled device.
As regards Herron the police officer said there was evidence she was tracking the parcel and that she had allowed her house to be used for other parcels.
The court heard she had co-operated with police and given her PIN number.
Bail was opposed due to the risk of reoffending.
Defence counsel Stephen Chapman said his client had made full admissions and said she was being 'used by someone else'.
He said somebody had to pay for that amount of drugs.
Herron was granted bail to reside in Donegal with her mother and not to enter the North except for court appearances.
