Suspended sentence for Donegal man at Derry Magistrate's Court

A woman has been remanded in custody after she appeared at Derry Magistrates' Court charged with harassment of her mother.

Lauren Devine (22) of Fountain Hill in Derry was arrested on April 11 after a number of complaints from her mother that she had been harassing her, including going to her place of work and asking for money, refusing to leave when asked.

The court also heard that Devine allegedly followed her mother home on April 7, in breach of a restraining order that has been in place since October last year.

Devine has previously been charged with a number of domestic offences against her mother, most recently receiving a number of suspended sentences earlier this month.

Defence solicitor Keith Kyle said Devine has a number of addiction and mental health problems, adding that, since her benefits are sent to her mother's bank account, she is essentially asking her for her own money.

Bail was refused and she will appear again on May 4.
