Suspended sentence for Donegal man at Derry Magistrate's Court

Derry Magistrates' Court

When a judge told a man at Derry Magistrates' Court that he could go into custody for breaching his bail, the defendant told the judge to 'go for it' and had his bail revoked.

Sean Houston (34) of Cross Street in Derry appeared charged with breaching Crown Court bail by being in breach of his curfew.

A defence barrister told the court that his client had been out after his curfew.

District Judge Ted Magill was in the process of telling the defendant that bail conditions were meant to be adhered to and he could be remanded in custody for the breach.

At this stage, the defendant told the judge to go for it and when Judge Magill asked him what he said he repeated it.

Judge Magill said 'fair enough' and remanded Houston in custody to appear again on April 29.
