Man charged in connection with weekend burglary in Derry remanded

A man has been remanded in custody charged in connection with a burglary at Gweebara Park in Foyle Springs in Derry. 

Kevin Quigley (43) of Rosses Gate in Derry appeared charged with entering a house as a trespasser and stealing medication on April 6.

He was also charged with assaulting a man occasioning him actual bodily harm and non-fatal strangulation on the same date. 

Quigley was also charged with grievous bodily harm on a female again on the same date. 

He was also charged with criminal damage to a religious statue and a video doorbell and two charges of possessing Class C drugs.

A police officer connected the accused to the charges. 

Defence solicitor Caoimhe McDaid told the court there would not be a bail application at this stage.

Quigley was remanded in custody to appear again on April 28.
