A man who was prohibited from entering Derry travelled 70 miles in breach of his bail and was said to have assaulted a woman in the city.
Jarusevicius Algis (51) of Tandragee Road in Portadown appeared charged with assaulting a female occasioning her actual bodily harm on March 29 and also pursuing a course of conduct deemed to be domestic abuse.
Algis was also charged with an assault on the same woman on March 2 and criminal damage to a mirror.
The court heard police were called to Maureen Avenue in the city to a report of a domestic incident on March 2.
The alleged victim had a cut to her forehead and blood was streaming down her face.
A full length mirror was broken and police noted blood and clumps of hair lying on the ground.
The woman said the defendant had pushed her from behind in an 'unprovoked' incident and caused her to crash into the mirror.
Algis was police bailed on condition he had no contact with the woman and that he stayed out of Derry.
The court was told that on March 29 the same woman contacted police to say that the defendant had assaulted her.
She had a cut on her lip and she said that the defendant had punched her on the mouth.
When interviewed Algis said the woman had injured herself with the mirror but could not account for the injuries.
He denied assaulting her.
Bail was objected to as the defendant had travelled over 70 miles in order to breach his bail and the officer said it was clear he would not abide by bail conditions.
A defence solicitor said that the woman initially could not account for her injuries as she was intoxicated.
District Judge Oonagh Mullan said that the injuries 'didn't appear from nowhere.'
She refused bail and Algis was remanded in custody to appear again on April 24.
