Foyleside Shopping Centre
A man who a judge said had 'taken the law into his own hands' could face an immediate custodial sentence Derry Magistrate's Court heard today.
Kyle Brace (37) with an address at Castle Hill in Coleraine admitted assaulting a man outside Foyleside Shopping Centre in Derry on August 19 2023.
The court was told that the injured party was working in Foyleside and went out to have a smoke at one of the entrances.
He was standing when the defendant approached him and made allegations against him before slapping and punching him around the head.
The defendant ran away and the injured party went back into the centre and called the police.

District Judge Barney McElholm said that this man had taken the law into his hands and it didn't matter about the rights or wrongs of the allegations made.
He said there had to be a pre-sentence report prepared in the case and adjourned the case until May 23.
Brace was released on continuing bail and advised to co-operate with probation.
